Finding the Formula was a research project focusing on the relationship between interactivity, illustration and student engagement in science resources, with a goal of increasing said engagement.

Experimentation with medium, style and interactivity resulted in development of the final artefact; a poster about New Zealand flora & fauna. The final work uses traditional textures in digital illustrations to bring life to the colouring, and QR codes link to corresponding audio clips of birdsong, giving students a peek into what each bird sounds like in its natural environment and promoting interactivity and engagement.

The poster now hangs in three different science classrooms & early childhood centres in NZ.
